🏠 Brazil Form and Team News

As you can see from the Group G table that we supplied above, Brazil, as expected, topped their group, although many would have expected them to do so with three wins from three. In their first match of the competition, they took on Serbia and won 2-0 thanks to two goals from Richarlison. In their second game, they came up against Switzerland, and a Casemiro late winner helped them to break a solid Swiss defence and book themselves a spot in the Round of 16 with a game to spare.

Since they had already qualified, Brazil made a number of changes to the starting XI against Cameroon, but they still would have been expected to put the African team away. However, the Cameroon team knew that there was still a slight chance of them making it through, so they played to the best of their ability and picked up a late goal to win the match with 1-0. However, because Switzerland beat Serbia 3-2, it was not enough to see the African team pass to the next round, but at least they can leave the competition with their head held high. Brazil obviously would have preferred to win all three group stage matches, but we do not think they will let this defeat get to them.

Brazil manager, Adenor Leonardo Bacchi, also known as Tite, has a number of injuries that he will have to contend with for the rest of the World Cup in Qatar. Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus picked up a knee injury in the defeat to Cameroon and it has since been revealed that he is now out of the rest of the competition. Likewise, Alex Telles, who is currently on loan at Sevilla from Manchester United, suffered a much worse injury which requires surgery, so it is not sure when he will be back in action for his club.

Then there is the little issue of the injury to Neymar, who missed the previous two matches due to an ankle injury. It is currently unknown as to whether he will be fit enough to take to the field against South Korea for their Round of 16 tie. Tite will definitely be hoping that he is, since he will want his talisman match fit for the Quarter-Finals, should they overcome the South Koreans.

When it comes to suspensions for their next match, they have nobody missing. However, both Fred and Militão have been cautioned once in the Group Stage, so one more yellow before the end of the Quarter-Final stage will see them have to sit out of the next match, should they have one. They will expect to move on in this competition, but they will still give South Korea the respect that they deserve.

Brazil Starting Lineup

The Brazilian squad is full of players that are known in households all across the world, since they play in some of the top leagues in Europe such as the English Premier League and La Liga. In their last game against Cameroon, Tite lined up his squad in 4-2-3-1 formation, but for this clash against South Korea, our Brazil vs South Korea prediction has it that he will go back to the 4-3-3 formation that he opted for against Switzerland. We think he will go for this formation because we expect South Korea to play like the Swiss – try to be tight in defence and attack on the counter.

Below you can find the Brazil starting XI that we believe Tite might opt to use for this clash:

  • Alisson
  • A. Sandro
  • T. Silva
  • Marquinhos
  • E. Militão
  • L. Paquetá
  • Casemiro
  • Fred
  • Raphina
  • V. Junior
  • Richarlison

If these players are not quite doing it for Tite at any point, then he has plenty of talent on the bench that he can opt to call upon. For instance, there is Antony, Rodrygo, Fabinho, Martinelli, Pedro, and Guimarães. Most managers would give anything in order to have such players to call upon in a time of need.

Brazil Players to Watch

Picking three Brazilian players to keep a close eye on in any match is no easy feat, since every player that is picked for Brazil has quality in abundance. However, we have tried our best to give you three players that you should keep an even closer eye on when Brazil take on South Korea:

  • Richarlison: The Spurs striker has his critics due to the way that he often dives around in order to pick up fouls or get his opponents booked, but there is no denying the fact that he is a really talented striker, as was shown by his overhead kick goal against Serbia. The South Korean defenders will have their hands full with Richarlison, and we would not be surprised if he managed to find the back of the net – he is averaging a goal every two games for his nation
  • Casemiro: Every team needs a player in the centre of the park who is really good on the ball but is also not afraid to put in the hard work, and Casemiro is definitely a player that fits into this category. He is the heart of this Brazilian team, with nearly everything good going through him in one way or another. Not only can his ping a pass or cut out a dangerous attack, but he also has the ability to find the back of the net, as he highlighted with his winning goal against Switzerland
  • Thiago Silva: It is not exaggeration to say that Silva is one of the best defenders of his generation, and he is still at the top of his game despite the fact that he is now 38 years of age. During his career he has played at three top clubs that are AC Milan, Paris Saint Germain, and Chelsea and he is still quite capable of playing at the top level of football. The South Koreans will have to work really hard in order to get past him and find the back of the net. They will also have to be wary of him at set-pieces as he is good with his head

☍ South Korea Form and Team News

If you look at the Group H table that we supplied you with above, then you will see that South Korea qualified for the Round of 16 by finishing second in their group, which is something that not many people would have put their hard-earned money on – most would have had their cash on Portugal and Uruguay to be the two teams that make it out of this group, but this 2022 World Cup in Qatar has been full of surprises.

South Korea’s first match of the competition was against Uruguay, and the game ended in a 0-0 draw, which meant that the onus was on them to pick up a win in their second match against Ghana. However, in a high-scoring game, South Korea ended up on the wrong side of the scoreboard, losing the match 3-2, meaning that they had to beat Portugal in order to stand any chance of going through. They put in a very solid performance against Portugal, and won the match 2-1, which was enough to see them book themselves a Round of 16 match with the tournament favourites.

South Korea manager, Paulo Bento, unlike his opposite number, Tite, does not have any major injuries or suspensions that will hinder him in what is already an uphill task. However, the likes of Cho Gue-sung, Kim Young-gwon, Jung Woo-young, and Lee Kang-in have all picked up bookings in the Group Stage, so if any of them go on to pick up a booking in this match against Brazil, then they will miss the Quarter-Final match if South Korea defy the odds and make it through – there will not be many football predictions out there that will be predicting this though.

South Korea Starting Lineup

In their match against Portugal, Bento decided to go for a 4-3-3 formation, and this is the formation that our Brazil vs South Korea prediction believes that he will decide to go for in their Round of 16 clash against the Brazilians. Below is the starting XI that we feel he will opt for in this game:

  • S. Kim
  • J. Kim
  • Y. Kim
  • K. Min-jae
  • M. H. Kim
  • I. Hwang
  • W. Jung
  • K. Lee
  • J. Lee
  • G. S. Cho
  • H. Son

Although Bento does not have the same talent to call upon from the bench that Tite has, he still has a number of talented players at his disposal such as Hwang Hee-chan, Hwang Ui-jo and Cho Yu-min.

South Korea Players to Watch

While all of Brazil’s squad are known in households around the world, it is fair to say that this is not the case with the majority of the players who are in this South Korea squad. However, there are some who are well-known, and even those who are less well-known have proven that they have the quality to compete at the top level. Below are three South Korean players to keep an eye on during this Brazil vs South Korea match:

  • Son Heung-min: There is no doubt that Son Heung-min is the main man in this South Korea team, and anyone who follows Spurs in the Premier League will already have a very good idea as to just how good he is. He is closing in on his 100th goal for Tottenham Hotspur, while he has found the back of the net 35 times in 107 matches for his country. However, not only is he a goalscorer, but he is also one of those players that provide plenty of assists. He will have to do plenty of defending against Brazil, but he will be hoping to use his pace to cause plenty of issues on the counterattack
  • Kim Min-jaeKnown as the “Monster”, he sat out of the win against Portugal due to a slight injury that he picked up in their match against Ghana, but he should be fit and raring to go for this knockout match. The 26-year-old is a beast at the back and will be relishing trying to blunt one of the best attacking forces in world football. He has been in fine form for Napoli this season, helping them to the summit of the Serie A table, and his talent is attracting plenty of attention from clubs in the English Premier League. We are looking forward to seeing whether he can keep Richarlison quiet
  • Cho Gue-sung: He is the man who will be leading the line for South Korea against Brazil, and if he gets even half a chance, he will have to put it away because Brazil are not the type of team who will give up a lot of opportunities. He definitely has the skill to do this, having scored 6 goals for his country already after making his debut in September of last year against Lebanon. We cannot wait to see him test out his skills against the quality defenders that Brazil have at their disposal

Who Will Win? Brazil vs South Korea Prediction

So, if you are looking to do some online sports betting on this Round of 16 game, but are not sure what you should put your money on, what would we recommend? Well, we think that there will only be one outcome in this match and that is a pretty comfortable win for Brazil. The South Koreans will give it their all and might cause Brazil one or two moments of discomfort, but the Brazilian attackers should have too much quality in the end. So, when it comes to World Cup betting on this match, we would ultimately put our money on Brazil to win.

Our Brazil vs South Korea prediction: Brazil to win.

Our Brazil vs South Korea Betting Tips

What are some other World Cup tips that we can provide you with for this game? Well, the match winner odds for Brazil are relatively low, so perhaps you might want to think about placing an Asian handicap on Brazil. For instance, if you give Brazil a -1.75-goal deficit, then the odds will increase to 2.19, and they would need to win by two goals in order for you to win your wager. As it goes, we think Brazil will win by at least two goals, so this is a bet that is worth your while.

If you are the kind of football bettor that enjoys placing bets on players to pick up yellow cards, then you might want to think about putting your money on Casemiro to pick up a yellow card because he does like to put in a strong tackle to break up play. Or, due to the fact that Richarlison likes to play act and show moments of ill-discipline, he is also someone else to think about for the booking market.
