Online Gambling in Quebec

Top Quebec Online Casino Options [2023 Comparison]

Gambling has been legal in Quebec since 1985. In recent years, online gambling has become more and more popular, with dozens of operators now offering their services to Quebecers.

In this guide, I’m dissecting and comparing the best of them, including their apps, to help you make an informed choice.

While dozens of brands are available in Quebec, for the time being, Loto-Quebec is the only legal, government-run option.

While there are some indications the online gambling market in Quebec may be on its way to regulation, there’s currently no legal framework for international operators.

Nonetheless, plenty of them can be accessed from Quebec, at no legal consequence to those who gamble. However, not all those sites can be trusted.

Since Ontario is the only regulated province in Canada regarding international operators, we always strongly recommend you stick to casinos that own an iGaming Ontario license.

good to know!

While this license doesn’t apply to Quebec, it’s still a sign of reputation. Only safe, trustworthy casinos can get one.

Some brands with this license include Betano, Bet99, bet365, Betway, PlayOJO, and LeoVegas.

Sadly, fan favourites such as FanDuel and BetMGM choose to only offer their online casino in Ontario for the time being.

That said, Quebec casino lovers can enjoy plenty of alternatives while staying safe online.

Bet99 Casino

With 3000+ games on offer, Bet99 is among the top Canadian casinos regarding the number and variety of slots.

There are 240 jackpots to choose from, including progressive jackpots. Other games cover blackjack, roulette, poker, and baccarat, available at Bet99’s live casino as well.

The brand has multiple software providers to choose from, including Microgaming, Playson, Quickspin, Relax Gaming, and Pragmatic, while live games come from leading game providers Pragmatic Play, Ezugi, and 7Mojos.

These providers also created exclusive casino games for Bet99, like Bet99 Bonanza and Book of Bet99.

Bet99 exclusive games

One big downside of Bet99 casino I’ve noticed is the lack of Evolution games since this is one of the top providers available at many other Canadian casinos.

While the casino section is generally intuitive, with separate tabs for casino and live casino, I didn’t find the search bar as intuitive — at first, I didn’t even realize it was clickable.

Betano Casino

Betano’s casino section has just under 2000 games, containing all the must-haves like slots, roulette, poker, and baccarat.

I really liked the dozens of categories I could easily choose from, such as Pirates, Fishing, or Pawsome spins.

On top of it, there is a helpful search bar, and you can also choose a game based on your favourite provider, something I always enjoy seeing.

There are 14 available providers to choose from, a number I don’t often see at Canadian casinos.

A randomizing button is also an option; it will choose a game for you if you’re indecisive.

Moreover, the brand also offers crash games, which are still not common in Canadian casinos.

However, there’s no separate category for this type of game, so you have to look up games by name (for example, Spaceman).

bet365 casino

Right off the bat, I must admit bet365 casino doesn’t have one of the best game selections I’ve seen in Canada.

It includes just over 200 slots, but it does boast 60+ original games, such as Madame Wisdom Table and Ancient Gods: Apple of Discord.

Other casino games include blackjack, poker (plus video poker), baccarat, and Megaways titles. The brand offers Sic Bo as well, which is a huge plus as it’s not typical for Canadian online casinos.

While I wasn’t thrilled to see some fan favourites like Sweet Bonanza or Wolf Gold missing, bet365 continues to add new games regularly, so I hope to see those soon as well.

The only providers available are Playtech and Microgaming, and though renowned, they don’t make for much variability.

One thing I did like regarding bet365 casino is their return to player (RTP) percentages, which range from 97.21% for Crazy 7 to 98.00% for Wild Times.

Since online casinos tend to have RTPs between 90% and 96%, bet365 is relatively high on the list.

Betway casino

While Betway doesn’t sport too many games either, with the tally being just under 1000, I found enough variety and quality there to feature it among the top casinos to go for.

Hundreds of games are available, including 300+ slots, blackjack, roulette, baccarat, and jackpots (progressive jackpots, too).

One thing Betway has going for its casino is the wide range of top-quality software providers, including NetEnt, Evolution, Microgaming, and 1X2.

Like Betano, Betway also has crash games available, but without an option to find them as a separate category.

Loto-Quebéc is a government-owned casino and the only one currently regulated by the Quebec province.

However, there’s not much else going in its favour when it comes to competing against international casinos.

The casino has <200 slots and 50 other games. Granted, one of those games is Keno, which isn’t often featured on Canadian casinos.

Still, international casinos, like some we’ve already mentioned, can have thousands of games, dozens of available operators, and plenty of original games.

Their downside, however, is that they’re currently not regulated in Quebec, and in case you encounter a problem with one of those casinos, the government can’t help you.

That said, until Quebec fully regulates its online gambling market, you can take the extra precaution of choosing casinos licensed in Ontario, thus making sure you’re opting for safe and trustworthy ones.

Before you play at any Quebec casino, at LegalBet Canada we strongly suggest you choose a licensed casino, even if that license only applies to Ontario.

Look for reputable casinos with enough experience and user trust to know you’re playing on a safe platform.

1.Once you’ve made a choice, find the button that says Register, Join, or Sign Up.

2. Upon clicking, you’ll be prompted to disclose your personal information, such as name, address, and phone number. This is why it’s essential to always go with trustworthy casinos: they take extra precautions to protect your data.

3. Once you sign up, you’ll be asked to verify your identity before you’re allowed to play. This is usually done via your ID, passport, or a driver’s license. This extra step protects you from identity theft and allows the casino to confirm you’re from the province you claim to be from.

4. The final step is placing a deposit, the minimum being between $5 and $20 depending on the casino.

5. All that’s left is for you to pick the game and start playing!

Some of the brands offering the best online casinos in Quebec also have highly functional gambling apps.

I especially recommend Bet99 and bet365.

Bet99

I love Bet99 app because it’s very intuitive, easy to download, and even easier to use.

It has all the verticals (casino, live casino, and sportsbook) in a single, highly-functional app. It also allows Face-ID login for increased security.

Navigation tabs are simple to follow, and there’s a casino game search bar that I found to be a lot more functional than the one at the website.

bet365

bet365 has a casino app specific to Canadians and thus tailored to their taste. It’s easy to navigate and boasts a very responsive design.

What’s more, bet365 has its own Authenticator app, which means you don’t have to download any external locators, making the whole gambling experience more straightforward.
